Siskiyou Chapter, NSDAR, Activities and Projects
The Siskiyou Chapter, NSDAR, may be small...but we can be mighty! The chapter has, over the last few years, risen with a new vigor and passion!
Our members participate in local projects and activities, such as filling food bags for needy families, making quilts and afghans for local rest homes, and providing baskets of goodies for families at the local women's crisis center. We regularly collect Box Tops for Education, pop-tops for charity, and pennies for the Penny Pines Reforestation Project, among other projects.
The Siskiyou Chapter, NSDAR, is very proud to be part of the Siskiyou County Veterans' Leadership Council (SCVLC) and have participated in many programs and events with them! The SCVLC was formed in 2011 through collaborative efforts of various organizations to better meet veterans' and their families' needs throughout the county. We are currently working toward erecting a memorial to fallen heroes of the armed forces, fire, and law enforcement, which will be permanently displayed along Highway 5 in Weed, California.
The Siskiyou Chapter is proud to be a partner with Wreaths Across America to Remember the sacrifice of our fallen military heroes, to Honor veterans and their families, and to Teach our children that our freedoms are borne out of courage, duty, and sacrifice. We will honor the fallen by holding a ceremony on National Wreaths Across America Day, and laying wreaths at Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka. If you would like to participate by sponsoring a wreath, please visit our Wreaths Across America website. If you'd like to volunteer, lay wreaths, or participate in the ceremony, please contact Group Coordinator, Becky Jo Adams. All are welcome!
This chapter has also become a partner with the United States Vietnam War Commemorative Partner Program and we anticipate opportunities to honor our local Vietnam veterans. If you know a veteran you would like to honor at an event or special occasion, please let us know. To learn more about the program, please visit here.
Our chapter also supports various programs and projects put forth by the California State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (CSSDAR), and the NSDAR.
